That struggling heaves her anxious breast.

In vain the falling tear’s with-held,

The conscious wish in vain repell’d.

III.

Her faded cheeks, and air forlorn,

Coarse jests invite, and cruel scorn.

To hopeless love she falls a prey,

And wastes in silent grief away.
